A violent explosion destroyed a Los Lunas mobile home and sent the couple living inside to the hospital.

Officials say the explosion happened around 9 p.m. Sunday night at the Vista de Las Lomas Mobile Home Park in Los Lunas.

Yolanda McKinley, the owner of the park, says the not only heard the blast but felt it nearly three miles away.

McKinley goes on to tell KOB Eyewitness News 4 that the couple was trying to connect a propane tank to the water heater which caused the explosion.

“They’ve got burns and she was thrown up into the air and against the wall. She hurt her neck and her back, it threw her up against the ceiling and into the wall,” McKinley explained.

The two were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.
