The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends use of at least one carbon monoxide alarm per household, located outside of sleeping areas. For maximum security, locate an alarm in each bedroom, near combustion sources, on every level of the house and near potential sources of CO.

If you are looking for an alarm that can be located near potential sources of CO, make sure the alarm you purchase can be installed near furnaces, in the mechanical room, in basements or in the garage. Residential CO alarms that are UL listed for use in unconditioned areas can be installed in those areas. All Safe-T-Alert™ 60 series are UL listed for Residential Unconditioned Area use.
