MD – Baltimore County officials say three people were found dead this afternoon on a cabin cruiser. Officials say they were apparently killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Around 1 pm, authorities responded to reports of unconscious individuals and found two women and one man dead inside the 30-foot cabin cruiser at the Parkside Marina in Bowleys Quarters.
Spokeswoman Elise Armacost says their identities will be released by police after relatives are notified.
Carbon monoxide meters showed the level of the deadly gas at 30 parts per million. Armacost says levels that high always require an evacuation of the area.
Fire officials don’t know what caused the gas to build up in the boat but Armacost says the problem may be related to the boat’s generator. She says all the boat’s ventilation hatches were completely closed.
The poisonous, odorless, colorless and tasteless gas is a byproduct produced when fuels aren’t completely burned.
