South Amboy, NJ- Authorities say two people were
injured when an explosion leveled a house in South
Amboy.
Fire Chief Larry Martin Jr. said the victims were taken
to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New
Brunswick. Their identities and conditions were not
immediately known.
The explosion happened shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Friday in the central New Jersey community of 8,000
about 10 miles east of New Brunswick.
The blast blew the roof off the house and scattered
lumber and other debris over a wide area.
A spokeswoman for Public Service Electric & Gas
said it appears that natural gas was involved, but
investigators did not find evidence of a leak in the
gas main or service to the home.
