Grayson, VA – WXII – Authorities are investigating a house explosion that killed a 76-year-old woman.
Evelyn Ward died in the incident, according to officials.
The fire occurred Saturday morning. Investigators said that a propane leak in the basement caused the blast.
Charred wood, blown-out windows and burned pages of the Bible were all that remained at the scene Monday.
Her oldest son, Nathan Ward, described his mother as a “sweet, Christian lady who loved everybody.”
He said he and his brother heard the explosion from miles away.
The woman’s caretaker made it out of the house alive.
