Poinciana, FL – A Polk County couple who tried to stay warm during the cold weekend were apparently poisoned by carbon monoxide.

Emergency crews found them at their Poinciana home Sunday afternoon, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.

Aqeelah Rahim, 45, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The man survived but was diagnosed with apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Power at their house had gone out so a generator was running in the garage near the kitchen door.
