Redford Township, MI – Authorities investigating a house explosion in suburban Detroit that left one man injured are looking at propane used at the home as a possible cause.
The blast happened Sunday evening in Wayne Countys Redford Township, leaving behind piles of smoldering debris where the house used to stand.
Township fire department Battalion Chief Steven Norris says firefighters found the injured man in the debris. Norris says the man was responding and awake when he was taken to a hospital.
Norris says propane tanks were found at the home. The cause of the explosion is under investigation
DTE Energy spokesman Scott Simons tells The Detroit News the home wasnt hooked up to its natural gas system. He says the person who owns the home hasnt been a natural gas customer since 2004.
