Schroeppel, NY- By The Associated Press
Authorities said one person is dead and several others are injured after an early morning explosion at a central New York home occupied by migrant workers.
Oswego County Sheriff Reuel Todd said the blast occurred in the workers’ living quarters on an onion farm outside the village of Phoenix in the rural town of Schroeppel.
Police and emergency crews are on the scene and are searching the wreckage to make sure no one else is trapped under the debris. Officials said up to seven or eight other workers were hurt in the blast, some with serious burns.
Authorities said it appears to be a propane tank that blew up.
