Northampton County, PA – A Northampton County coroner was dispatched about 3 o’clock this morning to the scene of a mobile home explosion in Moore Township, a county emergency dispatch supervisor said about 5:45.
Moore Township police had said after the 9:15 p.m. blast that they were uncertain if anyone was home when 118 Hickory Hills Drive blew up. A search was underway late last night, police said.
The coroner’s office investigates deaths.
The home, which county property records say is owned by Hilda Parsons, was destroyed in the blast which police said could be related to gas. A UGI Utilities vehicle was on the scene, but a company representative couldn’t be reached Friday night.
This afternoon, UGI Utilities spokesman Joe Swope said the home that exploded used propane and was not hooked up to natural gas lines.
A neighbor said there had been a gas smell for two weeks.
Police couldn’t be reached this morning for more information. The dispatch supervisor said they were likely still on the scene.
