Wichita, KS – Wichita fire investigators this afternoon are trying to determine the cause of an explosion and fire that destroyed a house in west Wichita.
Fire Marshal Ed Bricknell said the fire was started by a natural gas explosion that occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at a home at 456 N. Baehr.
He said investigators were trying to determine the source of the blast.
James Chapman, who has owned the home since April, said no one was home when the explosion occurred. He said his dog was in a fenced yard at the time and was not hurt.
