FL – A popular restaurant in Lauderdale Lakes is in need of serious repair after a serious explosion last night.

The storefront restaurant Marjory’s was destroyed along with other adjoining businesses after a powerful propane explosion. Authorities believe the explosion was the result of a gas leak.

Firefighters found flames inside and determined they were being fueled by a propane gas line. They went to the back of the building and shut off the gas main, stopping the fuel and allowing them to quickly extinguish the fire. Laparkan Shipping Company, located next to Marjory’s, was also heavily damaged.

Deputies secured the area surrounding the large shopping plaza but traffic was not affected on adjoining Oakland Park Boulevard and State Road 7.

The cause of the explosion and the gas leak are under investigation by BSO and the fire marshal. No estimates on damage will be available from official sources this weekend.
