Larks Lake, MI- A midday explosion destroyed a two-story Larks Lake Road home today. No injuries were reported.

Dozens of Firefighters from Readmond Friendship-Cross Village, Harbor Springs and Pellston fire departments were on scene at 2:40 p.m. The blast occurred sometime around 1:30 p.m. at 3680 Larks Lake Road, north of Van Road.

Debris was blown out in all four directions for at least 100 feet around the home. Firefighters knocked back the brunt of the flames, but were still extinguishing hot spots.

Small grass fires from the burning debris were also extinguished.

The home’s owner, Mike Guisinger, 60, told the News-Review he’d gone to his mother’s house to help her with errands — earlier than he does every week — so was not home at the time of the blast.

The cause of the explosion is still undetermined but Guisinger said firefighters initially suspect a propane gas leak.
