INpolis, IN- WISHTV, Indianapolis – An Indianapolis man remains in critical condition after suffering burns and other injuries when his house exploded Wednesday evening.

It happened in the Mars Hill neighborhood at around 6:30 pm Wednesday. Karl Sweazey, 57, was home at the time of the explosion and suffered severe burns and multiple injuries to his legs.

Neighbors found Sweazey under a couch, but did not move him until paramedics arrived. Witnesses say they saw insulation falling from the sky like snow shortly after the blast, which blew Sweazey’s one-story bungalow apart.

Investigators have ruled out illicit drug activity as the cause of the blast.Neighbors said they smelled gas in the area, but the fire department is still looking into the cause.
