Sublimity, OR- Statesman Journal – Sublimity burn victim Jimmy Williams remained in critical condition Saturday night, according to a Legacy Emanuel Hospital nursing supervisor.
Williams, 40, survived a gas explosion in his remote home last weekend, then drove across fields to a neighbor’s house on an ATV for help.
He had burns on 60 percent of his body. The fire occurred when Williams tried to light the pilot light of a gas lamp about 9 p.m. April 21.
The flame ignited an accumulation of propane that had leaked from a tank and amassed in the basement of the two-story house, Sublimity fire officials said. The flash fire and explosion tore the home off its foundation and blew out
the front wall.
Williams was taken by ambulance to Santiam Hospital in Stayton, then transported by Lifeflight to the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy hospital in Portland.
