Brighton, CO – Home Explosion In Brighton Investigated

Firefighters Find Home With Front Blown Out

Several people received injuries Thursday afternoon when a home in Brighton erupted in flames.

When firefighters arrived at the home on the 200 block of North 15th Avenue, the front of the house was blown off and the house was on fire. An odor of natural gas was in the air, said the Brighton police department.

Three adults and three children were accounted for but some of the residents were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The fire, which was reported just after noon, is now out, but some nearby homes have been evacuated until the area is safe and the potential risk of explosion is gone. Xcel Energy crews are at the home, along with the fire department, to investigate the cause of the explosion.
