Hamburg, IL – Services will be Friday for four Missourians who investigators say died of accidental carbon-monoxide poisoning on a Mississippi River houseboat moored off of Illinois’ western banks.
Calhoun County Sheriff Bill Heffington says the odorless gas overtook Jody Ryan, her newlywed husband Dale Ryan, her brother William Boehm (BEEM) and his wife, Ruth Boehm.
All four were from Elsberry, Missouri, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the town’s Assembly of God church.
Their bodies were found Sunday in the boat moored to an island on the Illinois side of the river about 50 miles northwest of St. Louis during a birthday outing for Jody Ryan.
Investigators say a leak from a generator likely spewed the carbon-monoxide into the boat.
The 1972 boat owned by Dale Ryan had a carbon-monoxide detector, but it didn’t have batteries.
