City Heights, CA – A City Heights family is displaced after a natural gas explosion ripped through their apartment.
The explosion happened around 6:30 Thursday night in the 2600 block of 44th Street.
The explosion blew a hole through the ceiling and knocked over a bathroom door. A man inside suffered minor injuries.
The San Diego Fire Department said you should take quick action if you suspect a gas leak in your home.
“They’re going to smell an odor because that’s what SDG&E puts in, a scent into their gas, so they would go ahead and evacuate the room immediately, as well as open up any windows to make sure it airs out that room,” said San Diego Fire Department Capt. Steve Valenzuela.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
