Cleveland, OH – There was a natural gas explosion in the basement of Station 24 at West 44th Street and Clark Avenue Thursday morning. No one was injured. A firefighter smelled natural gas and was walking down to the basement to investigate when there was an explosion near the boiler. Assistant Fire Chief Tim O’Toole said the station had been having problems with natural gas leaks in the last few weeks, and work had been done that was supposed to correct the problem.
