INpolis, IN – An apparent natural gas explosion Saturday leveled a detached garage on the Eastside, startling neighbors and causing about $35,000 in property damage, a Fire Department spokesman said.
No injuries were reported, but the two-car garage came off its foundation and was in ruins, said Capt. Greg Harris of the Indianapolis Fire Department.
No one was in the house in the 2300 block of North Graham Avenue when the garage was destroyed shortly after 4 p.m.
The back of the house sustained damage, including broken windows, Harris said. The Fire Department received about a dozen calls from anxious residents after the explosion.
Authorities think an uncapped natural gas line near the garage triggered the blast. Officials are investigating.
