Olathe, KS- A family avoided carbon monoxide poisoning early Wednesday after one of them woke to the odor of exhaust from a car that had been left running in the garage accidentally.

Firefighters and paramedics reported gas levels of 211 parts per million at the house near Dennis Avenue and Hedge Lane. Levels of 150 to 200 parts per million can cause unconsciousness and death, depending on the length of exposure.

None of the three adults and three children was poisoned.
