Harmony, IN – Tribune Star – A Clay County Community Schools bus driver burned in a Thursday house explosion remained in critical condition Monday.

Tom Miller, 68, suffered burns on 35 percent of his body from his face to waist after the explosion, said Frank Misner, director of transportation for Clay County Community Schools.

Miller, who has been a bus driver for Jackson Township for 13 years, remained heavily sedated in the burn unit of Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis and was expected to undergo surgery Monday, Misner said.

Miller’s home was destroyed in the explosion, which shook nearby homes in Harmony, a small town in northeastern Clay County.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office investigated the incident, which appeared to be caused by a gas leak, but did not return a call Monday.
