PA – The Pittsburgh Channel – Three walls were blown off a home following an explosion that was so powerful it could be felt an entire township away.

The explosion took place 1 a.m. Friday morning on 11th Street in Stowe Township.

According to neighbors, the owner of the house had passed away several years ago, and it was currently unoccupied.

“I was sleeping and I just heard a big bang and I woke up,” said neighbor Jeffrey Offner. “All the stuff on my shelves were knocked off, so I got confused.”

“I just came home from work and laid down to watch TV and boom,” said neighbor Thomas Jackson.

Neighbors said they had complained about the smell of natural gas earlier this week.

An investigation to determine the cause of the explosion is underway.
