IA – Neighbors were just getting ready for bed Wednesday night when they heard a loud explosion just outside their homes.
The house at 2825 Scott Ave. was leveled by the natural gas explosion around 8 p.m. and continued to burn for two more hours. The force of the explosion was felt blocks away.
It was engulfed, tall, all the walls were poof, blown out. As far as I know all the walls were blown out. It was a entire destruction, neighbor Karen Brandt said.
Crews from MidAmerican Energy were called in to turn off the gas supply.
Neighbors said the woman who owns the home was at church when her home exploded.
Investigators said they don’t know yet what sparked the explosion.
