Lauderdale Lakes, FL – BY Darrin Simon, MiamiHerald.com
A gas explosion ”gutted” a Lauderdale Lakes restaurant Saturday night nearly an hour after it closed, Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jim Leljedal said.
Leljedal said Marjory’s Restaurant and Catering, 3748 W. Oakland Park Blvd., was empty when the explosion and fire occurred around 9:46 p.m. No one was injured, he said.
The restaurant closed around 9 p.m., Leljedal said on Saturday.
It appears that a leaking propane line sparked the explosion, he said.
”The interior was totally demolished,” Leljedal said. “The glass was blown out of that building and a shipping place next door.”
