Thornton, CO – Rocky Mountain News – A boiler room explosion Friday morning left 61 residents of a Thornton apartment complex temporarily homeless.
The Thornton Fire Department responded to the natural-gas explosion at the 12-unit Towne Centre Apartment Homes, 647 W. 91st Ave., at about 7:30 a.m.
The explosion damaged several walls in the complex, said department spokeswoman Elise Bennett. No one was hurt, but the complex was declared uninhabitable. The cause of the blast is unknown.
It could take a week to a month before residents can return to their apartments, Bennett said.
